Reversing Alzheimer’s symptoms
Israel’s Dr. Shira Knafo heads Spain’s Molecular Cognition Laboratory at BioCruces Health Research Institute. She has discovered a small protein, which inhibits the processes normally associated with impairment, including depression and Alzheimer’s disease. http://www.algemeiner.com/2016/02/09/medical-breakthrough-israeli-scientist-heading-intl-research-team-reverses-alzheimers-symptoms-in-mice/ http://www.nature.com/neuro/journal/vaop/ncurrent/full/nn.4225.html

Protein could reverse Alzheimer’s damage
A protein discovered by a Tel Aviv University research team may reverse the damage caused by Alzheimer’s. Laboratory tests showed that TAU (tubulin-associated unit) restored levels of the dementia-protecting protein NAP. It also restored disease-shrunken brains to normal size. http://www.timesofisrael.com/israeli-discovery-could-reverse-alzheimers-damage/

Israeli scientists reverse aging process
In the first trial on humans, Israeli scientists have shown hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT) can reduce two key biological hallmarks of aging – telomere length shortening and accumulation of senescent cells. These factors lower the risk of cancer, dementia, Alzheimer’s … Continue reading

Inhibiting an enzyme may cure Alzheimer’s
Israel’s ProteKt Therapeutics is developing a treatment for early stage Alzheimer’s disease. It inhibits the PKR enzyme that is over-expressed in Alzheimer’s patients and may slow or even reverse the progress of the disease. It also has potential for ALS, … Continue reading

Reversing the aging of the brain
Researchers from Israel’s Ben-Gurion University and the University of California have discovered that a small molecule called IPW is able to heal a damaged Blood Brain Barrier (BBB). It can also alleviate the inflammation that leads to Alzheimer’s and other … Continue reading

A treatment for inflammatory diseases and more
Israeli scientists have developed half-a-dozen proteins to treat either inflammatory diseases (see here and here) or neuro-degenerative diseases (here and here) But the 5-mer peptide, developed by Professor David Naor of the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, treats them all. https://www.israel21c.org/one-drug-could-treat-alzheimers-ms-crohns-and-more/
