Hear sights and feel sounds

At the Reichman University (formerly IDC) in Herzliya, Israeli scientists are creating portals between the senses and even reprogramming our senses. It’s where they invented EyeMusic (see here previously) to help the blind use sound to “see” shapes. https://www.israel21c.org/the-israeli-lab-where-you-can-hear-sights-and-feel-sounds/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JU2E6Bw6Ado

Blind man can see with sound

Israeli neuroscientists have trained a 50-year-old man, blind from birth, to recognize objects using Israel’s EyeMusic (see here previously). The system uses sensory substitution that EyeMusic’s Professor Amir Amedi researched at the Hebrew University (see here previously). https://www.israel21c.org/blind-mans-brain-learns-to-see-through-his-ears/ https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/S1053811921003062?via%3Dihub

The blind can hear shapes

Delegates at the recent AIPAC conference saw a demonstration of EyeMusic – a tool that provides visual information for the blind. Shapes, colors and locations are converted to music in order to give an audible “picture” of objects. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=r6bz1pOEJWg&feature=youtu.be http://brain.huji.ac.il/site/em.html
