Facebook’s Israeli R&D center (one of Facebook’s largest hubs) launched Facebook Lite in 2015 for low-end phones and no WiFi (reported here previously). It is now developing Instagram Lite – under 2MB compared to the 32MB full version. The new app is aimed for users in South East Asia, Africa and India.
