93-mile undersea cable for solar energy

Israel has begun planning a 150km (93-mile) subsea cable that will run along the Mediterranean coast from Ashkelon in the south to Haifa. It will transmit electricity from solar energy fields in southern Israel to the center and north. It can also link to power grids in Europe and the Gulf.
