Hisham Abu Raya was the first Muslim (non-Bedouin) officer in the IDF. Immediately after his discharge in 2018, he founded “Ma’an” (meaning “together” in Arabic), to strengthen ties between the Israeli State and young Arab citizens. Today he promotes IDF service as key to their advancement.
