Preventing airborne attacks on the network

Israeli startup AirEye protects company networks from threats via the airspace surrounding an organization’s infrastructure. AirEye’s sensors detect airborne threats from nearby unprotected devices or local cyber cafes, from which wireless attacks can be launched on the network.

Foundations of Quantum computing

Can you be in two places at the same time?  Yes, if you attended Israel Technion’s Quantum computing summer school. 220 students took the 6-day course. It introduced them to the foundations of quantum computing theory and to practical programming on the IBM quantum minicomputer.

Fast crawling and hovering robot

Scientists at Israel’s Ben Gurion University have built some very clever robots (see previously). The latest was inspired by cockroaches and lizards and can move super-fast over difficult terrain and water. It has many potential agricultural, search and rescue and excavation applications.

Smart lighting to inactivate Covid-19

Israel’s Juganu (reported previously) has enhanced its smart city lighting from just illuminating spaces into disinfecting them. J.Protect now uses surface light mixed with ultraviolet A (UV-A) plus UV-C light to kill Covid-19. It says “it could be the light at the end of the tunnel”.

Yazamut 360 – the entrepreneurship center of Israel’s Ben Gurion University (reported previously) has launched the Oazis accelerator. Six startups will showcase on Zoom: ; ; ; ; ; and

Saving Florida lakes and rivers

Israel’s BlueGreen Water Technologies (reported previously) has been selected to save Florida’s Lake Okeechobee water basin from a plague of toxic algae. BlueGreen already saved millions of fish and thousands of animals by purifying reservoirs and lakes in South Africa, Ohio and Orlando.

All quiet in Jaguar and Land Rover

Israel’s Silentium (reported previously) has announced that customers of Jaguar and Land Rover will be able to enjoy Silentium’s Active Road Noise Cancelation (ARNC) system in the Jaguar F-PACE, Jaguar XF and Range Rover Velar.

Mellanox’s super microprocessor

Israel’s Mellanox, which was acquired by Nvidia in 2019 for $7 billion, has just launched a new microprocessor that transfers a data center’s infrastructure services onto a single chip. One BlueField-2 DPU chip replaces 125 old CPU cores, freeing spare capacity to run data center applications.

Israel’s The Jones Agency has won the Insurance category in the CRETech Real Estate Tech Awards (RETA) 2020. It is the first time an Israeli company has been awarded first place in the award’s 7-year history. Jones’ technology automates property & developer insurance liability compliance.
