Israel’s SavorEat (see previously) has joined the list of Israeli startups producing egg alternatives (see for others). Its new subsidiary company Egg’n’up says its proprietary plant-based ingredients retain the egg’s taste, texture, nutrition, appearance and culinary properties.

Israel’s Amai Proteins (see previously) is close to launching its hyper-sweet sugar substitute. It has signed a deal with OceanSpray to produce sugar-reduced cranberry juice. It now has 5 PhD employees and 20 “super tasters” and is moving out from R&D premises into a large pilot production facility.

Two Israelis won medals at the 2021 European Girls Mathematical Olympiad (EGMO). Competing against 213 participants from 54 countries, Rehovot’s Noga Friedman won a gold medal and Herzliya’s Ya'ara Shulman a silver. The Israeli team finished ninth overall.

NASA’s TESS satellite is looking for planets around stars by analyzing the light that the stars emit. The European Space Agency’s Gaia satellite is mapping our galaxy, also using light. Tel Aviv University scientists have built a system to cross-check data from both and speed up the search.

Israel’s Chunk Foods uses proprietary fermentation technology to make healthy, realistic, beef alternatives from plants. It uses non-GMO ingredients to produce whole muscle cuts of beef such as sirloin, chuck or ribs.

Israel’s Helios has developed technology to produce oxygen from the lunar soil. It will be tested in two future missions as a possible basis for sustainable lunar colonies, or at least, the ability to provide fuel for the return leg of a lunar mission. Lunar soil contains about 42% oxygen.
