Israel’s D-ID (see previously) has used its avatar technology to support the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women. D-ID has brought the victims “back to life” to publicize the dangers of violent husbands and actions women can take to save their lives.

From 1977 to 1979, Israel gave refuge to some 360 of the so-called Vietnamese “boat people,” in the aftermath of the Communist takeover of the Southeast Asian nation. 45 years later, over 150 have remained in Israel, and are grateful for “the opportunity to rebuild our lives here”.

Scientists from Israel’s Technion Institute have developed a unique water pump powered solely by solar energy. It can deliver water from wells to crops, to give farmers a second annual harvest and increased yields in Ethiopia and remote areas across Africa.

The Arava International Center for Agricultural Training (AICAT) trains 1,200 people annually from 16 countries in methods that raise their yield and their income. The students pay tuition fees from the money they earn while gaining practical work experience on local farms.
