Meta accelerates AI startups

Meta (Facebook, WhatsApp etc.) has launched AI Accelerator TLV for early-stage Israeli B2C AI startups. Its first 10 selections are , Twee, Lucid Dreams, Adge.ai, Vinst, Weavy, Spines Publishing, (Hear), Panjaya, and an unnamed startup which is in stealth mode. (like D-ID’s latest feature see above)

Vegan salmon for celebrities

Israel’s Oshi (formerly Plantish) has partnered with Neat, a vegan burger chain backed by celebrities Lewis Hamilton and Leonardo DiCaprio. Oshi’s vegan salmon will be featured in Neat’s New York City menu inside vegan fish tacos, rice bowls, and Caesar salads with avocado.

Benefits for Olim at JCT

New immigrants who enroll in specific programs at the Jerusalem College of Technology are eligible for benefits thanks to JCT’s partnership with Israel’s Ministry of Aliya and Integration. They include full-tuition scholarships and financial support, plus up to 1,500 NIS a month for housing.

Fund for joint UK-Israel research

Israel and the UK have created a NIS 9 million fund to provide research grants for joint projects, plus scientific collaboration on the development of transformative technologies. The grants focus on quantum tech, AI for medicine discovery, alternative proteins, and advanced food packaging.

Defense tech fund

Ace Capital Partners is a new venture capital investment fund focused on defense, aviation, and space startups. Although it will also invest in international companies, ts primary goal is to nurture and strengthen the Israeli ecosystem in aviation and space.

Economy grows even during the war

Israel’s gross domestic product grew at an annualized 1.2% rate in the April-June period compared to the previous three months. Over the first half of 2024, the economy grew at an annualized rate of 2.5%.

Solar panels to be mandatory

New Israeli Energy Ministry regulations have been approved requiring all new detached houses and non-residential buildings of a certain size to install solar panels for electricity generation. The regulations will shortly expand to residential apartment buildings, in which the majority of Israelis live.
