Protecting Canadian Air Space
Israel’s Orbit Technologies has won a NIS 2 million order from the Canadian Air Force for its airborne telemetry and monitoring systems, to be installed in planes operating out of the Cold Lake Air Force Base in Alberta. The system will monitor objects flying in Canadian air space.
Amos 5 satellite starts operations
Israel’s Spacecom announced that its Amos 5 communications satellite has reached geo-synchronous orbit and will begin commercial operations to Africa, the Middle East, and Europe.

Israel’s revenue from tourism in 2011 rose 2% to a record $9.1 billion. Tourism minister Stas Misezhnikov predicts that a record 4 million tourists will visit the Jewish State in 2012.
Bought in a Flash
US computer company OCT Technology has bought Israel’s flash caching and virtualization software and hardware developer Sanrad Inc. for $15 million. Sanrad CEO Ilan Oded said that the company's staff would join the OCZ development team and establish its design centre in Israel.
Screening for cancer in Taiwan
Israel’s BioView has sold its first Circulating Tumor Cells (CTC) screening device to Taiwan Academia Sinica for NIS 600,000. BioView's system distinguishes healthy cells from tumour cells and can diagnose tumours from very small samples.
“Spicy Way” is on the way to Germany
The Israeli spices from Bet Lechem have already been successful in the UK (see video clip). Now Spicy Way has opened its first German store in the city of Dusseldorf. Germany's Kaufhof department store chain plans to open another 26 stores in the food court areas throughout its chain.
TMS for Chile
Israel’s Brainsway has signed an exclusive distribution agreement for its Deep TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) device with a Chilean company. At least 455 devices will be leased over 10 years to treat major depression, bipolar depression, schizophrenia, Parkinson's disease and other illnesses.
More telecoms for Colombia
Israel’s Gilat Satellite Networks has won a $16 million follow-on order to provide satellite communications services at 1800 sites in Colombia. The services will benefit over 4 million Colombian citizens in rural parts of the country who currently have limited or no telecommunications.
Israeli UAVs are flying high in the Americas
Israel’s Elbit Systems has won a $50 million contract to supply its Hermes 900 unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to a country in the Americas. The unnamed customer will use the UAVs for perimeter security missions.
