Lonah Chemtai Salpeter became the first Israeli woman to win gold at a European Athletics Championships when she won the 10,000 meters in Berlin. The former nanny to Kenya’s ambassador to Israel married Israeli running coach Dan Salpeter and took Israeli citizenship in 2016.
